We Can All Get Along

You see the faces. I’m sure you know the history. But this year’s Hoop It Up in Toronto at the end of July was about people coming together. It was about streetball as a close-knit community rather than a bunch of arguing brats. I have been to every Toronto Hoop It Up this decade, and I honestly have to say this one was right up there for me. 1st or 2nd (2005 was crazy, no matter how you look at it), but 2009 might be the most fun I have had at the tournament. Just because. Im not gonna go into too much detail here because Ghost did a great job recapping everything on his blog, and if you read that and download the 700 or so pics below, well then you basically have heard and seen just about everything that happened through out the weekend.

C-Stan bringin '88 back

As for the site, I would like to thank everyone that has supported and contributed since we kicked things off in April (seems like a long time already). You may have been wondering where the updates are at. First of all, I would like to apologize, and second I would like to assure you that the site will be back. From the end of June I have spent a good deal of time out of town/country and had various work and personal responsibilities and as a result I had to put this site on the back burner. But I plan to relaunch in September with some fresh ideas so please don’t write The No Look off just yet. I think this underground streetball scene is an amazing story and a lot of it has yet to be told and I’m confident that The No Look will be the one to tell it.

TOTB: Thank Us Later Ep. 6 – The Finale

June 14th, 2009

Well, this is the finale of Thank Us Later Season 1. As you can see from the write up, there will be some dramatic structural changes taking place for TOTB at this point so the future is unclear, but regardless its been a great run and this final episode is a dope way to go out. Shouts to Clown Prince, Mad Skillz, LC, and TOTB for all doin their thing and reppin for streetball culture.

What’s Up Streetball world,

I just want to thank The No Look for giving me the time and day. From the get go I want to announce that there are no hard feelings. So this episode features Clown Prince with a nice little snippet freestyle from Mad Skills. As I stated at the end of this episode, this is the last of the season. Now let me get back to stating that there are no hard feelings, but I had to take my leave and depart from Thinkin Outside The Box. I just feel like it isn’t what I expected? In many different ways. I realized that we have different goals that we are trying to accomplish and that TOTB wasn’t for me. I’m not sure what you can expect from them, but I wish luck in anything. As of right now, I’m sort of on a stand still when it comes to releasing streetball footage/freestyles….. But since its not only the cool thing to do, but me being on the computer alot contributes to my thinking of starting my own little blog (www.world-of-elcee.co.nr). Anyways, hope y’all enjoyed my editing(except for the few sloppy mistakes I’ve made lol) and like I said, no hard feeling as I hope for the best of TOTB. As well as let me thank The No Look and Ayo himself for a lot of support to keep myself motivated.

Holla,
Elcee

No One On The Court Has Swagger Like The Manic

May 17th, 2009

Had to post this video. We got a whole section called stylin on em, how could I not post this video? Anyways, CP is saying Manic got the illest style in streetball. The challenge has been set, we will see what the response is. By the way he does have some ill fitteds, I witnessed this last summer in Toronto.

The Road to Illmanic Preview

May 15th, 2009

Here is CP’s intro to a new project from the Manic that is proudly supported by The No Look. It will be a v-log detailing the behind the scenes process of creating one of the most anticipated DVD’s for underground streetball in recent years. Dubbed “streetball’s detox”, a reference to Dr. Dre’s heavily anticipated but much delayed 3rd studio album, which has become almost a myth in some hip hop circles, The Illmanic has been in production for 6 years at this point. There is still no definite release date, but many sense that the end is near and fans of streetball will finally have another underground project to celebrate and inspire imagination following in the footsteps of crews such as The Notic and Dime.
The Road to Illmanic begins here.
